Little Red Riding Babygirl

Colour Scheme-

This is probably one of my favourite outfits I’ve worn in a while because for me it marks how far I’ve gone in my self-love journey. I mean, gasp, shock, horror, I’m showing my dark elbows. I’m wearing minimal makeup (although don’t get me wrong, I still love a good full face). I’m posing on the street without a care. Who even am I?

I feel like since I began taking my self-esteem more seriously, it’s worked wonders for my overall existence, and manifested in too many ways to mention.

Oh, and it’s great for the skin.

Ok so, this skirt.

Skirts were actually never my favourite piece of clothing simply because of  ‘what would others think?’. I developed too quickly as a child and I’ve always been “thick” so even the simplest thing such as a skater skirt would become shorter than average which would also be pointed out by others. And guys, it got on my nerves like you wouldn’t believe.

So once I started to not care, leather skirts were an actual MYTH where I was concerned and when I bought this, it was a spur of the moment, faith, “please God let it fit me” kinda purchase. But here we are! This skirt is literally one of my favourite things in my wardrobe at the moment because not only does it fit me, it also fits most occasions I can think of off the top of my head; picnic? YES, chill day out? YES. As a bonus, it can also be paired with anything from oversized men’s jackets to high knee boots.

*Sends a reminder to self to do a post on how to style a mini skirt*

IMG_5412editOne thing y’all should know about me is that when I’m not in the mood to wear accessories, that’s it. Even earrings will barely touch my ears, but when I’m in the mood? that’s a post for another time. However, one can never go wrong with a good backpack and this one is perfect. It could actually be off Mary Poppins because it’s surprising how much can be stored in it although my friends and family alike *cough* think it’s useless. Also, my extra-ness really shows through with this bag; peep the “Books not Bombs” badge- I mean, can you even tell I study English Literature?

Combined with all the things I love about the outfit, these espadrilles are the cutest sandals have ever bought in my life + they made me feel tall y’all, like actually TALL.

They probably had me gassed for a bit too long, though, because my baby sister who takes my pictures for me is taller than me (unfortunately) so it meant that I got to be taller than her for a few hours. Personally, I don’t think much else needs to be said about them except;

Sidenote: I’ve always believed that my moods can be reflected in the clothes I wear and this week has been a happy but slightly ‘meh’ one, hence the dulled down colours. That will definitely change by next week (as you will see in my next ootd post) because I’ve been taking a lot of time to talk to God about things that have been on my heart for a long time, and what a release that has been.

I encourage you to try it too.

Stay happy!
